What it is like to be at Pre-School

Our day begins at 8.30, when it is straight into our morning activity. We go and join the rest of the school in the school hall for our daily assembly, where we join in with singing, stories and quiet reflection time.

At 9.00 we return to our exciting area to begin the day’s activities. These include lots of structured play, small focused group activities, free play and continuous access to our outdoor learning area.

After our morning snack and milk, we go out to play with all the other children in school. We like this because the older children help us and play fun games with us on the big playground.

In Reception we read to our teachers every day and take part in daily phonics, writing and number activities. In the afternoon we love to get out the painting, model making, play on the computers and find out all about the world around us both inside and outside.

In Pre-School we are introduced to initial sounds and numbers from the day we start and are encouraged to use our growing skills during the structured play activities and continuous provision throughout the day.

At lunchtime, the teachers always sit with us and help us to eat our dinner and talk to us about all kinds of things. We love this because our teachers never leave us and they think our stories are funny!

Each day we have specialist teachers coming in such as swimming teachers, dance teachers, sport coaches and Mrs. Woodward, who comes to visit us every Tuesday morning to teach us Spanish. We love this as she always has lots of fun games for us to play and songs to sing.

At 2.30 we all help to tidy the toys and games away for the day. When our rooms are tidy we then go out to have our afternoon snack. Once we have finished its story time. We get to choose the story and we can all lie down to listen to our favourite stories before our mums and dads arrive to collect us at 3.20.

We are usually all very tired but can't wait to come to school the next day to see our friends and learn lots more exciting things!
